Summer Skincare: A Cooling Ritual with Salt-Pan Mud Masks

07.08.2026 / Section Offers Tips

When the summer day winds down:
Fifteen minutes of refreshing care for your skin

In the salt pans, a summer day never ends all at once. The light slowly retreats from the salt fields, the wind begins to soften, and the evening brings a welcome sense of freshness. It is also an invitation to pause for a few moments and turn our attention to our skin.

Sunshine, wind, sea air and long days spent outdoors are all part of summer. As the day gradually settles, it is the perfect time for a calm and soothing evening skincare ritual.

Lepa Vida peel-off face masks with salt-pan mud offer something that feels particularly welcome on warm summer days: a mild cooling effect and a pleasant feeling of freshness on the skin. They are simple to prepare, and the entire ritual takes around fifteen minutes – just enough time for a quiet pause at the end of the day.

Preparing a peel-off mask

When the fine powder is combined with water, a small transformation begins. Within moments, it becomes a smooth mixture that forms a flexible, cooling layer on the skin. An important part of this process is played by alginate, or sodium alginate, an ingredient derived from brown algae.

When mixed with water, the alginate in the mask’s formulation allows a gel to form. On the skin, this gel gradually sets into a flexible layer that can be removed in one piece after use – hence the name “peel-off”.

While the mask is working, its moist gel texture creates a pleasant, mildly cooling sensation. This makes it especially enjoyable during the warmer months, when we long for light, refreshing care at the end of the day.

What does “peel-off” mean?

The term “peel-off” describes the way the mask is removed. Rather than being rinsed off like a conventional cream mask, it sets on the skin to form a single, flexible layer.

When the mixture is prepared correctly and applied evenly, the mask can be gently peeled away in one upward motion after approximately fifteen minutes. Any small traces that remain can then be rinsed off with warm water.

You can learn more about salt-pan mud, algae, the masks’ shared base formulation and the active ingredients in each variety in our article: Face Masks with Salt-Pan Mud.

Why do the right amount of water and prompt application matter?

Add 60 ml of room-temperature water to the contents of one 20-gram sachet. The ratio of powder to water is important, as it affects both the consistency of the mixture and how evenly it can be applied.

Too much water may make the mixture too runny to stay in place on the face. Too little water will make it too thick and difficult to spread evenly.

Because the gelling process begins quickly, it is best to prepare everything in advance: a small bowl, the measured amount of water and either a spatula, a soft brush or clean fingers for application.

As soon as the mixture is smooth and free of lumps, apply it immediately to clean, dry skin.

Apply an even layer of medium thickness

Apply the mask in an even layer of medium thickness, avoiding the area around the eyes. If the layer is too thin, the mask may tear during removal. If it is very uneven, different areas may take different amounts of time to set. An even application allows the mask to form a continuous layer that is easier to remove.

Leave the mask on for at least fifteen minutes. Once it has set, gently lift it at the edge and peel it away in an upward motion. Rinse off any remaining traces with warm water.

Good to know:
  • Use the entire 20-gram sachet and 60 ml of room-temperature water to prepare one mask.
  • Begin applying the mixture immediately after preparation, as it sets quickly.
  • Apply the mask to clean, dry skin in an even layer of medium thickness.
  • Leave it on for at least fifteen minutes, then gently peel it away and rinse off any remaining traces.

Three varieties for different skin needs

All three Lepa Vida peel-off masks are vegan and suitable for all skin types, but each is enriched with a different active ingredient.

Detox contains spirulina and is especially suitable for times when the skin appears tired and in need of a fresh, well-rested look.

Anti-Age contains grape skin extract, a natural source of antioxidants, making it particularly suitable for antioxidant care and the needs of mature skin.

Deep Clean contains activated charcoal for gentle yet thorough cleansing. It is especially suitable for oily and blemish-prone skin.

Choosing is simple: select the mask that best suits what your skin needs that evening.
