We are very pleased and proud to present our new peel-off face masks with salt-pan mud. We have added three versions of the peel-off face mask to our Lepa Vida product line, which aims to include hand-harvested natural sea salt, brine, and salt-pan mud into everyday beauty products. We have added three well-known actives to our basic formula and distinguished them according to function into a 'Detox' mask with blue-green algae spirulina, an 'Anti-Age' mask containing grape skin extract, and a 'Deep Clean' mask with activated charcoal. These masks are suitable for all skin types and hydrate the skin.
Basic formulation:
The base ingredient of our face masks is the dried salt-pan mud of the Sečovlje salt-pans (Maris Limus), which has been classified as a natural healing agent by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia since 2013, and it is worth noting that this is an ingredient that has been traditionally used in the Slovenian coast for its therapeutic and nourishing properties for many centuries. Our mud, which undergoes a special, natural process of maturation with brine (Aqua Madre), rejuvenates and restores the skin with its rich mineral composition. Among the minerals, magnesium is particularly important, as it is part of many biochemical processes in our bodies and is also excellent for our skin. It soothes inflammation, regulates skin regeneration, and protects the skin from external influences. Salt-pan mud also contains calcium and sulphur. Calcium, like magnesium, is essential for the body and the skin. Sulphur has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. The use of sulphur preparations is particularly recommended for oily or acne-prone skin types, as they help to naturally exfoliate the skin and remove impurities.
In addition to salt-pan mud, diatomaceous earth and sodium alginate are added to the base of our masks. Diatomaceous earth (Solum Diatomae) is a diatomaceous rock composed of fossil sediments of ancient algae made of silicon dioxide. Silica is also known as the 'beauty mineral', as it is one of the key elements in the synthesis of the skin collagen, which is important for maintaining the skin's youthful appearance.
Sodium alginate is extracted from brown algae (Laminaria hyperborea) and is used for both food and cosmetic purposes. In addition to providing a peel-off function to our masks, alginate also moisturises and soothes to the skin. It improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, thus helping to more fully absorb the other active ingredients in the masks. Thanks to alginate, these masks also have a mild cooling effect, making them a suitable skincare product after sunbathing or other intensive facial treatments.
Peel-off face mask "Detox" with salt-pan mud and spirulina
In the case of the peel-off face mask 'Detox' with salt-pan mud, we have added blue-green spirulina algae to the already excellent basic composition. We decided to use algae of Slovenian origin from certified organic production. Spirulina is a so-called superfood and has long been present on our market in the form of food supplement. On our shelves, you can also find it in Dark Chocolate with Fleur de Sel and Spirulina, which is an excellent complement to it. Try it and see for yourself that even a detox can sometimes be sweet.
Spirulina enhances cosmetic products with high levels of antioxidant that protect our skin from free radicals, reducing the signs of premature ageing. Spirulina promotes healing and its anti-inflammatory properties help to repair and detoxify the skin, thus contributing to a healthier and more youthful appearance of our face.
Peel-off face mask "Anti-Age" with salt-pan mud and grape skin extract
We have added grape skin extract to the peel-off face mask 'Anti-Age' with salt-pan mud. In addition to the grape seeds, which are also found in our Soap with Grape Seeds, wine production offers us another by-product with a proven high added value. As much as 30 % of grape skin extract is made up of antioxidants like resveratrol, which is excellent at penetrating the skin barrier and thus supplying it with its antioxidant properties. Although our skin needs antioxidants all year round, the need for them is greater in the summer months. This is when we are usually exposed to higher levels of UV radiation. Antioxidants, with resveratrol being one of the more effective ones, are effective in reducing skin damage associated with 'photo-aging' (damage to the skin as a result of exposure to the sun's rays) and in stimulating the skin's own collagen production.
Peel-off face mask "Deep Clean" with salt-pan mud and activated charcoal
We have added a proportion of activated charcoal extracted from the ash of coconut shells to the peel-off face mask 'Deep Clean' with salt-pan mud. Activated charcoal is a form of carbon that has a mild abrasive effect in cosmetic products. The added activated charcoal effectively removes dead skin cells and deeply cleanses the skin pores, absorbing excess oil. After use, our skin is radiant and deeply cleansed.
Application:
Masks can be purchased in convenient, 20-gram packages. With each use, gradually add 60 millilitres of water to the contents of the sachet, stirring quickly to achieve a homogeneous, lump-free mixture. The masks gel quickly, so start applying to the face immediately. Apply the mask in a thicker layer, as this will later make it easier to remove the mask. You can use a cosmetic spatula, a brush, or your fingers to help you apply the mask. As a precaution, avoid the eye area, but you can also apply it to the neck and décolleté. After 15 minutes, remove the mask from the face with one swipe and wash off any residue with lukewarm water.
All products are vegan and suitable for all skin types.
