There are many art collections in the world. Only a few, however, are shaped by a place that defines perception, emotion, and expression. In the Sečovlje Salt Pans, this place is not merely a backdrop – it is the source.
You are warmly invited to visit the exhibition A Selection from the Soline d.o.o. Art Collection, on view from 16 April to 12 July 2026 at the Caserma gallery in the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. The exhibition opens a part of the collection to the public for the first time, presenting a selection of 18 works by renowned Slovenian, Istrian, and international artists.
Artists and Collection
The exhibition features works by Bogdan Barovič, Nataša Bezić, Boris Gaberščik, Andreja Gregorič, Arne Hodalič, Cvetka Hojnik, Hari Ivančič, Tone Lapajne, Branko Lenart, Mira Ličen, Cveto Marsič, Valentin Oman, Davor Rapaic, Boris Selan, Fulvia Zudič and Huiqin Wang.
The Soline d.o.o. Art Collection has been developing for more than two decades and today includes over one hundred works. It has evolved through collaborations, artistic projects, and donations, bringing together artists of different generations, approaches, and visual languages.
A Landscape as Inspiration
In these works, the salt pans do not appear merely as a motif, but as an experience. A place where light is never the same, where human work meets the rhythm of nature, and where layers of history continuously unfold. Each artist interprets this environment through their own visual language, technique, and perspective – yet always in dialogue with the same unique setting.
“The salt pans are a place where the boundaries between water, earth, air, and fire dissolve, and where a rich heritage meets contemporary artistic expression.”
— Nives Marvin, curator
The exhibition is therefore not only a presentation of selected artworks, but an invitation to read the landscape differently – to understand the salt pans as a space that shapes not only salt, but also thought, perception, and creative expression.
“With this exhibition, we are opening the collection to the wider public for the first time – as a tribute to the artists and as a commitment to continue preserving cultural heritage and supporting artistic creativity in the future.”
— mag. Aleksander Valentin, Managing Director
You are kindly invited to the exhibition opening on 16 April and to visit the exhibition throughout its duration.
