Salt pan mud is much more than a natural product of the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. It plays an important role in creating the conditions for traditional salt production, while its maturation in brine allows it to develop the properties of a marine peloid. From there, its story continues in thalassotherapy and the Lepa Vida cosmetic line.
The exhibition presents a selection of works by renowned Slovenian and international artists. There are many art collections in the world; only a few, however, are shaped by a place that defines perception, emotion, and expression. In the Sečovlje Salt Pans, this place is not merely a backdrop – it is the source.
There are many types of salt in the world. Only a few, however, are formed on a living layer carefully maintained by salt workers from generation to generation. In the Sečovlje Salt Pans, this layer is called petola — and it is precisely what gives the salts from the Piran Salt Pans their distinctive character.
